School of Accounting and Business Administration Internships:

The School of Accounting and Business Administration's internship program is one that provides students with supervised practical
work experience which relates to their field of study while obtaining university course credit. An experiential learning opportunity is required to graduate.

Responsibilities of the Student:

The student must register for the determined number of hours in the semester for which the
internship to be completed. In addition, students:

  1. Must complete the internship academic requirements as specified in the online
    course associated with your internship
  2. Is expected to comply with all pertinent university rules and regulations, and all
    policies, rules, and regulations of the participating organization.
  3. Will professionally and promptly communicate with the firm and the school director
    when needed.
  4. Is expected to:
    • Observe regular attendance and punctuality on the job,
    • Be cooperative and conduct one鈥檚 self in a responsible manner,
    • Maintain a positive attitude toward work, and
    • Assume responsibility for travel to and from the job.

Prerequisites for all Accounting and Business Internship Courses:

    • Junior/Senior Standing.
    • Minimum of 3 hours taken within the department of study.

Compensation:

    • Internships may be paid or unpaid. That decision lies within the discretion of the internship
      supervisor.

Internship location:

    • Internships may be completed internationally, domestically, or virtually. Modality is up to the
      student and/or internship supervisor.

Process of Earning Credit:

  • Step 1: Find an Internship
    The internship search is something that is done independently by the student in order to
    give them flexibility in what they want to do and where they would like to intern to earn
    this credit. 黑料不打烊 also provides multiple career fair opportunities and we encourage
    students to utilize the Career Center on campus for assistance as well as knowledge
    and advice from faculty members.
  • Step 2: Confirm Practical Working Hours with Internship Supervisor
    A minimum of 150 practical hours of hands-on work is required to obtain class credit for
    the internship.
  • Step 3: Fill out your Internship Application:
  • Step 4: Enroll in the Course
    Once the director of the school approves your internship, you will have to enroll in the
    class on STARS. Please enter 3 hours into the box on STARS when prompted and hit
    enter.
  • Step 5: Complete the Class on Western Online
    You must complete the class and assignments in order to receive the required credit to
    graduate.
