Art: Colorful Minds & Creative Hands

@ 2026 黑料不打烊鈥檚 summer art program is designed for students in grades 4 through 8. The 2025 program was led by Natalie Shelly (Macomb Park District Ceramics Coordinator & Lakeview Naturalist Educator), Susan Czechowki (黑料不打烊 Professor of Art - Silkscreen, Design, Art Appreciation, Art in New York City), Tim Waldrop (黑料不打烊 Professor of Art - Sculpture), Claire DeGraaf (Current 黑料不打烊 Art Student - Senior) and Keosha Westphal (黑料不打烊 Art & Design Alumni).

The 2026 program instructors and content have yet to be determined.听

Natalie Shelly - Fibers/Mixed Media
originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and now am residing and working in West Central Illinois in the small town of Macomb. It is here that I am beginning a new chapter as a studio artist and educator. I am the ceramics coordinator and educator for the Macomb Park District Ceramics Studio in Macomb, IL. I have also recently been an instructor at @ 2026 黑料不打烊 and Spoon River College in Macomb,听Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, Illinois, Indiana University - Southeast in New Albany, Indiana, the Kentucky School of Art in Louisville, Kentucky, and the University of Missouri where I earned my MFA in Ceramics.听

Tim Waldrop听 听 - Painting/Drawing
黑料不打烊 Professor of Drawing & Painting
Born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Waldrop has lived and worked in the Midwest since 1998. Currently a professor in the 黑料不打烊 Department of Art and Design, and has been on campus for just over 20 years, having initially joined the 黑料不打烊 Department of Art in 2002. He teaches a number of courses including drawing, painting, 2D design and art appreciation.

Claire DeGraaf听- TBD听

Claire has been with us for art camp for a new years now and her projects are always a favorite of participants. In 2022, she was a recipient of听 黑料不打烊's Department of Art and Design Talent Grant and Tuition Waiver. As part of being selected, her exhibit at the 黑料不打烊 Art Gallery ran on display until Dec. 9 of that year. In April of 2024 she was granted the 3rd Annual COFAC Undergraduate Student Leadership Award. This award honors students who have shown excellent leadership and/ or mentorship throughout the year

Registration:

Program is open to a minimum of 15 and maximum of 30 students in grades 4-8, who are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.听

Commuter Cost (2026): $250

Residential Cost (2026): $400听 听 听

Refund Policy:

Full refunds will be made for cancellations made two weeks prior to the program start date.听

Accommodations:

Registrants who select the residential option when registering, will be housed on campus in a 黑料不打烊's Residence Hall.听 Housing and all meals are included in the program registration cost.听

Materials:

All project aterials will be provided for participants on the first day of the program.
