MACOMB, IL - - Former @ 2026 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Financial Aid Advisor Janice J. Wayland, 79, of Macomb, IL, passed away on August 3.

Wayland graduated from Macomb High School in 1965 and began her career at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in the Student Insurance Office, where she worked from 1965 to 1968. She returned to the University in 1976 and served as a Financial Aid Advisor in the Financial Aid Office until her retirement in 2009.

Wayland was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Macomb and the Macomb Country Club. Above all, she cherished her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

A gifted quilter and crafter, Wayland created beautiful quilts and Christmas decorations that became treasured family keepsakes. She also enjoyed baking birthday cakes, researching her family's genealogy and gathering with family for card games and spoons, where her "Janice Rules" were a source of laughter and good-natured debate. She also enjoyed spending winters in Tierra Verde, FL.

Wayland is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter, Angie Murdock and her husband, Bill, of Wataga, IL; son, Derek and his wife, Kathy, of Angier, NC; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way; two sisters; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at First Presbyterian Church in Macomb, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial of ashes will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Macomb or the charity of the donor's choice.
