Toby Zallman – Our Plastic Trash
August 24 – September 24, 2021
Reception: Tuesday, August 24, 4:30-6:00 pm

My art transforms toxic refuse into evocative objects of abstract seduction, that bring a sense of beauty to environmentally devastating situations and arouse cognitive dissonance in viewers. Since 2005, I have made sculptures and drawings which respond to the by-products of our society’s rampant consumerism. My aim is for the work to incite both a sense of pleasure and a disturbing awareness of the degradation of our oceans, land and bodies. This engaging visual experience will support change in viewers' behaviors.

Mark Mcleod - I only went out for a walk
August 24 – September 16, 2021
Reception: Thursday, September 16, 4:30-6:00 pm

Memory is a fallible, persistently shifting, exploitable thing. My interest in memory stems from my own inability to store and retrieve some long- and short-term events. I remember very little from my most recent experiences and even less from my childhood. This deficiency has forced me to rely on secondary storage - video has become a backup for incomplete memories while photography has become my proof of moments. My life has been subsequently organized into small digital folders by year, month, and event. This inability to remember has caused me to question not only how I understand my past, but more importantly how I define my present.

Jason Ackman – Navigating Borders
September 28 – October 29, 2021
Reception: Tuesday, October 26, 4:30-6:00 pm

They can be found almost anywhere. At times they are easily recognizable, and at other times we may not even notice their presence. The reality is that we encounter borders all of the time, whether we choose to acknowledge them or not. Created by others, or self-constructed, cultural, political, social, or psychological, how we choose to navigate these borders is a choice. The delicate, and at times tension-filled result of that choice, the choice to navigate beyond the borders we encounter into unknown territories, is not always an easy one.
