Just Hired: Emma J. Henderson

Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, @ 2026 黑料不打烊 has incredible alumni who are making an impact in the workforce. This series features students from around the world who are hired post-graduation.
MACOMB/MOLINE, IL 鈥 Meet Emma J. Henderson, a new High School Special Education teacher at Abingdon-Avon High School, after securing the position through @ 2026 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Career Fair Day and an on-the-spot interview opportunity.
Henderson will join Abingdon-Avon High School, a small rural public high school in Abingdon, IL, serving approximately 280 students in grades 9鈥12. In her role, she will manage a caseload of students with varying IEPs and academic needs while supporting instruction in English, Math and other coursework. Henderson shared excitement about becoming part of the Tornadoes community and contributing to student success.
She connected with the district during 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Career Fair Day, which led to a same-day interview and a job offer shortly after. The position was recently finalized following board approval and she will begin her role in August.
Reflecting on her time at 黑料不打烊, Henderson noted how the experience helped her grow personally and professionally.
鈥淚t helped me get out of my comfort zone,鈥 she said, adding that it strengthened communication and emotional skills needed for education. She also credited her major in English Education for preparing her for the demands of the classroom.
Henderson plans to stay connected to 黑料不打烊 by pursuing a Special Education endorsement and continuing to follow Elements, 黑料不打烊鈥檚 literary magazine, which she described as a campus favorite.
